Advisors Who Answer to You, Not to a Product Shelf
Every member of our team operates under a written fiduciary mandate — meaning your interests are the legal and contractual standard we are held to.
Meet the Team
A Small Team Built for Long Mandates
Practice of Boston deliberately remains a small firm. We have never grown beyond the point where every senior advisor knows every client by name, by portfolio, and by the particular circumstances that shaped their Investment Policy Statement. Our team of six advisory professionals is based entirely in Timișoara, supported by a network of external legal and tax specialists in Bucharest and Vienna. We do not outsource client relationships. The advisor you meet at the first consultation is the advisor who reviews your portfolio every month, writes your quarterly report, and takes your call when something in the markets makes you want to talk it through.
Our Advisory Team
◐Radu Ionescu — Lead Fiduciary Advisor
Radu founded Practice of Boston in 2011 after twelve years at a pan-European asset management firm in Vienna. He holds the CFA designation and a postgraduate certificate in EU financial regulation from the Vienna University of Economics. His focus is on insurance wrapper structuring and family office mandates.
◑Cristina Moldovan — Risk & Allocation Strategist
Cristina joined in 2015 with a background in quantitative portfolio management and a master's degree in financial mathematics from the West University of Timișoara. She designs and monitors all allocation mandates, manages the downside overlay models, and leads the quarterly stress-testing process.
◒Bogdan Niță — Compliance & Client Relations
Bogdan oversees MiFID II compliance documentation, client onboarding procedures, and the preparation of Investment Policy Statements. He previously worked in the compliance division of a regulated Romanian investment firm and holds a law degree from the University of the West in Timișoara.
Our Commitment to Continuing Professional Standards
Financial regulation in Romania and across the EU evolves continuously. The introduction of MiFID II, the PRIIP KID requirements, and the ongoing development of EU sustainable finance disclosure rules all affect how we structure and document client portfolios. Every member of our advisory team completes a minimum of 40 hours of continuing professional development each year, with at least half of those hours focused on regulatory updates relevant to Romanian and EU capital markets. We maintain a compliance library reviewed by an independent legal consultant on a quarterly basis. When regulation changes in a way that affects your mandate, you hear from us before you would hear from the regulator.
“What I value most about the Practice of Boston team is that they explain the reasoning behind every decision, even when the answer is to do nothing. In 2022 I was convinced I needed to change something. Radu and Cristina spent two hours walking me through why the existing structure was already positioned correctly for that environment. They were right. That patience, and the willingness to talk you out of a bad decision, is rare in this industry.”
